Emerging South Australian artists Felicity Townsend and Loren Orsillo began their Artist in Residence roles at Carclew at the beginning of 2019. The opportunity offered by the Carclew Residency Program has enabled the two young artists to develop and explore their practices, as well as the freedom and space to create new bodies of work.
Exploring both compliance and rebellion against rules, conventions and forces that construct our reality, both artists employ installation to push boundaries both real and imagined. From the fundamental interconnectedness of sub-atomic forces through to mundane specimens of material culture, this exhibition examines the micro-conditions that collectively govern our lived realities.
Join us at Carclew’s SALA exhibition, Dictatorship of Gravity (and other micro-politics), curated by Carclew Curator in Residence Jack McBride, presenting new work by Townsend and Orsillo, developed during their studio residencies.
