Carclew turned 50 YEARS YOUNG and threw a massive party to celebrate!
On Saturday 26 November from 4pm friends and family to celebrated Carclew’s 50th birthday where the grounds transformed into a party scene with live music, entertainment, and workshops.
Every performance and activity showcased Carclew’s diversity of arts programs that support and nurture young emerging creatives.
There were activities for children, food trucks, artist market stalls, picnic rugs and a bar for the grownups. The perfect sundowner!

Ashum Owen
Settle on the lawn to acknowledge our First Nations people and connect to this beautiful country.
Live Music
Tilly Tjala Thomas
An awarded Nukunu electronic pop and folk musician, ready to whisk you through a dreamy set. Tilly is a crowd favourite at Carclew events and performing her own songs around Adelaide since the age of 11.
Twine
A noise rock/post punk band to boost you up with a unique blend of violins, guitar, and roaring feedback. Thea, the violinist, is a current Sharehouse resident at Carclew.
The Sisters of Invention
An all-female pop group determined to challenge society’s pre-conceived ideas about who can be a pop star. Supported recently at Carclew’s Embrace Disability Arts Festival.
Lil Cue
A rapper influenced by old school hip hop with inspiring words, oozing passion and urgency. Lil Cue started out from Carclew’s Music at Work and is deemed the “Eminem of Elizabeth”.
Free Art Workshops
Weaving
Join artists from the Aboriginal Artists in Schools program and learn the art of weaving.
Pom Pom: Trash Prophecy Cave
Making sculptural forms from found objects to attach to a collaborative installation, that will build over the course of the celebration. Pom Pom is a children’s arts Worksop located in Davoren Park for children under 12yrs.

Throughout the grounds, there’ll be theatre performances, and some interactive games brough to you by Carclew’s Expressway Arts community arts collective based in Port Noarlunga.

Discover stories shared by Carclew participants over the last 50 years. This is a newly created performance inspired by these stories. This project was made possible by funding from The History Trust of SA and was developed specifically for Carclew’s 50th anniversary.

Benched
A highly regarded intimate performance reflecting on sport and disability by recent Carclew Sharehouse alumni, Jamila Main. This performance premiered at Carclew SALA 2021.

FAQs
Can I bring my own picnic rugs & chairs?
Yes, please feel free to bring your own picnic rugs and chairs. Plenty of both will be provided by Carclew also.
Can I bring my own food and drink?
No outside food will be permitted on the grounds. There will be food trucks available with Vegetarian, Vegan and Gluten Free offerings. Only non-glass, refillable water bottles are permitted on the grounds. All other drinks and any food will be confiscated upon entry.
Will there be an ATM on site?
Unfortunately, there is no ATM at Carclew. Please bring cash and card facilities as both will be accepted on the grounds.
Is the event site accessible?
This event is accessible with ramps for grass areas, accessible toilets, an AUSLAN interpreter and indoor activities all happening on the ground floor of Carclew House. There will be no use of strobe lighting at this event.
Is Carclew Grounds dog friendly?
Unfortunately dogs are not permitted on Carclew Grounds.
Can I smoke at the event?
Smoking is not permitted on Carclew Grounds. Patrons are asked to leave the premises to smoke. Please note this also includes vaping.
Where will lost property be?
Lost property will be taken inside the house to the Reception desk. If you have lost a personal belonging, please speak with the Front of House staff at reception. After the event, please contact carclew@carclew.org.au or call 61 8 8267 5111.
Will there be a section for lost children?
If you have lost your child please report immediately to the Front of House staff at reception.
Will there be a cloak room?
There will be no cloak room on site for the storage of patrons personal belongings.
Getting To Carclew
Getting to Carclew is easy, no matter your mode of transport. If you are coming by bicycle, there is a bike rack within the on grounds car park to lock it up in. Street Parking is available on Jeffcott Street and Strangways Terrace. Buses 98C, 235, 238 and 239 all stop in front of Carclew at Stop 3 Jeffcott St – West Side or Buses 98A, 271, 273 and 974 stop at Stop 3 Jeffcott St – East Side.
Will the event be filmed and photographed?
Parents and guardians are advised that filming and photography of the event will be taking place, and recognisable images/footage of minors may feature on Carclew’s social media platforms after the event.
Should you wish for a minor in your care to not be filmed or photographed whilst at the event, please email marketing@carclew.org.au or speak with the gate staff upon your arrival to the event.
