Emma Knights Productions is an Adelaide-based company dedicated to providing opportunities for local performers and to the creation of unique performance experiences for local audiences.

'Space Encounters' is a 50-minute interactive children's opera written by Australian composer and librettist Sean O'Boyle and Ian McFadyen. It tells the story of Jefferson and Harris, two astronauts who have been sent to space with their robot, Roland, in search of a strange signal. When they land on a distant planet they encounter something they did not expect and when Roland malfunctions, will they ever be able to leave?

Space Encounters introduces children to opera in a fun and accessible way and incorporates important topics including acceptance, not judging a book by its cover, friendship and working together.

I was initially questioning about opera for the junior students, never having such an event before. However, all the age groups were engaged for the whole hour. Great props, costuming and talented performers! Thank you for this opportunity, especially providing a successful opera experience for the students that they may never have again for themselves.
