Katia Carletti is an Adelaide-based visual artist working in the mediums of painting and sculpture. Her work explores ideas about landscape, home, emotion and ritualised experience. Upon completing a Bachelor of Visual Art with Honours from Adelaide Central School of Art in 2011, Katia’s work has been shown in numerous solo and group shows in Adelaide. In 2012 she undertook a two-month residency in Reykjavik, Iceland with the help of a Carclew Project and Development Grant, as well as becoming the Ed Tweddell Scholarship holder in Central Studios.
Katia was one of the Carclew Artists in Residence for 2013 undertaking a one-month residency in Berlin, Germany during the same year.
A proficient practitioner in a number of different artistic mediums, including oil and acrylic paint, ceramics, sculpture, drawing and embroidery/textiles, Katie's own practice uses many of these in combination.
Within a school or community setting, Katia is able to tailor projects and workshops to the specific requirements of the environment. These could include workshops in a variety of mediums, which develop students technical as well as conceptual skill set, such as landscape or figurative painting, and using clay in a variety of ways to create forms including figures, practical vessels such as cups and bowls, tiles and mobiles.
Katia is also available to work on large collaborative projects such as murals and installations, as well as taking on a mentoring role for senior students.
