Sustained creative partnership | 8 weeks
Artists in School Communities is a sustained creative partnership between a professional artist and a school community. Over eight weeks, students work alongside the artist to investigate ideas, experiment with artistic processes, and develop creative work of their own.
Developed with the school and artist, each partnership responds to the school’s learning, wellbeing and community priorities while remaining grounded in the artist’s contemporary practice. The extended format creates space for ideas and relationships to develop, for students to take greater ownership of their creative work, and for artistic practice to become visible across the school.
A partnership may include:
- regular artist-led workshops with students
- an artist studio or open studio within the school
- opportunities for students to observe and engage with professional artistic practice
- collaborative and individual art making
- exhibitions, performances or other public artistic outcomes
- professional learning for educators, embedded in delivery or offered as a dedicated session
- opportunities to connect with neighboring school communities working with the same artist.
