June S. Tanner Memorial Scholarship

The June S. Tanner Memorial Scholarship is offered by Carclew in conjunction with the Independent Arts Foundation and the Italia-Australia Association.

The June S. Tanner Memorial Scholarship supports a South Australian artist (aged 26 or under) working in any art form to further develop their practice through a professional development program (of choice) in Italy. The scholarship is offered at the value of $4,000.

The June S. Tanner Memorial Scholarship was established to honour the memory of a late Vice-President of the SA Branch of the Italia-Australia Association June Tanner, who accompanied groups of Australians on cultural tours of Italy and also taught mosaic-making.

Due to COVID-19 and international travel restrictions the June S Tanner Scholarship will not be offered for the 2021 period.

About the Independent Arts Foundation and Italia-Australia Association

The role of the Independent Arts Foundation (IAF) is to support the development of the arts in South Australia, particularly young, emerging artists.

IAF is delighted to combine with the Italia-Australia Association to offer this scholarship to study surrounded by the rich cultural resources of Italy.

The Italia-Australia Association was founded in Rome in 1976, the main aims being to promote cultural, social and economic contacts between Italy and Australia.  The SA Branch was formed in 1981 and the main activities remain social and cultural in orientation.
