“As a Ngunawal artist working regionally on Ngarrindjeri Country, through my business Wilay Designs I use my creative practice to share culture, strengthen community and create spaces where our young ones feel safe, proud and seen. Thanks to Carclew funding, I was able to collaborate with other First Nations artists, work with Elders to incorporate language, and create a mural with the children at a local Children’s Centre.” – Kristal from Wilay Designs.
This end-of-year, Carclew is raising $5,000 to fund Quick Response Grants – small, quick and impactful support that helps under-represented young regional creatives access essentials like travel, training and professional development.
Why Regional Matters?
Regional artists have the same talent, drive and creative potential as city-based artists but they face unique barriers shaped by distance and isolation. They often have limited access to workshops, education, industry networks, creative peers, mentors and performance opportunities. When opportunities do arise, travel and accommodation can quickly become hurdles – limiting their creative growth.
Supporting regional young creatives means bridging the gap between talent and opportunity.
Distance shouldn’t determine who gets to create, grow and share their work.
Why Carclew Regional Ready QR Fund?
Carclew’s Regional Ready QR Fund will support these Quick Response Grants designed to help regional young artists who can’t find funding through other means due to the timing, location or specific needs. They will provide fast and flexible assistance when young regional creatives:
- need to attend workshops or professional development
- have to cover last-minute travel
- want to access specialist opportunities not available locally
These unique, fast and flexible Quick Response Grants will fill the gap when traditional funding isn’t an option, helping young regional creatives access opportunities, cover essential costs and keep their projects moving forward.
Why QR?
Just like the QR code you’ll scan to donate, these QR grants deliver fast, targeted and effective support where it’s needed most.
Why You?
Your donation helps to remove the challenges that location creates and ensures that where someone lives doesn’t limit what they can create.
Scan. Support. Spark regional creativity!
