Tiny D-esque Residency at Wizard Tone
A Live Recording & Performance Series
The Tiny D-esque Residency at Wizard Tone is a collaboration between Carclew, Wizard Tone Studios, and four South Australian artists, producing a live recording series inspired by NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts. Each artist will perform an intimate live set in front of a studio audience, captured with high-quality audio and video, creating a unique showcase platform for Adelaide’s diverse and world-class music scene.
Objectives:
- Artist Development – Provide professional recording, videography, and live performance opportunities.
- Industry Pathways – Connect local artists with industry go-getters and broader music networks.
- Community & Audience Building – Offer Adelaide audiences exclusive access to intimate live performances.
- Collaboration – Strengthen ties between Carclew, Wizard Tone Studios, and South Australia’s emerging and niche music scenes.
Artist Demographic:
- Genres: World music, funk, jazz, soul, experimental fusions.
- Career Stage: 20+ years old, emerging or established with a mature sound.
- Focus: Niche artists who often miss out on mainstream festival slots but show strong artistic potential.
Format:
- 4 Artists – Selected via Carclew, Wizard Tone, and industry partners.
- Live Audience – 20–40 attendees, including industry go-getters and music stakeholders.
- Recording – High-quality multi-track audio + multi-camera video production.
Output – Each artist receives:
- A funded live EP recording
- A professionally shot performance video.
- An allocated budget for personalized set design, ensuring each performance reflects the artist’s unique identity.
- Distribution – Digital release via Carclew & Wizard Tone channels, pitched to industry go-getters and programmers.

What’s the application process?
You can apply by filling out the online application form.
This form asks for basic personal details and experience with music. You will also be asked to provide a recording of two original songs, these can be made on a phone/low quality recording. If you have any questions during your application please reach out to us, Carclew is very happy to help!
Once applications close, a panel of industry professionals and Carclew project staff will select 3 artists to work with. All applicants will be notified of the outcome whether they were successful or not.
What is the cost of the program?
Successful artists don’t need to pay for this experience, it is fully subsidised by Carclew.
