“It’s been an amazing experience to work with the [professional teaching artists] and to see students respond to their new energy and ideas. The project has also been inspiring and creatively reinvigorating for me as a creative arts teacher.” School Drama Teacher.
Artists In Schools is a residency program established to encourage participation in and appreciation of the arts through creative interactions with professional arts practitioners. Carclew works with schools to co-create artist residencies that support their broader learning aims and areas of enquiry.
Artists in Schools develops partnerships between schools, communities, and artists, while achieving creative outcomes through considered and integrated processes. The program is designed to engage children, young people and teachers in stimulating arts experiences that add greater richness and depth to their learning.
The program encourages student involvement in the creative process, while gaining new skills and knowledge. It also assists the development of confidence and self-esteem in students and enriches their experience of the arts curriculum. Teachers are supported to deliver the curriculum with professional learning occurring throughout the program.
Delivery Model
Artists in Schools can be delivered in a way that suits the needs of individual schools, and can be delivered in collaboration across multiple co-located schools.
