Music

For Artists / For Youth

At Carclew, we believe music is at the heart of youth culture – shaping identity, connection and creative expression. Our music programs support young people at every stage of their journey, delivering meaningful opportunities in-house, in schools and across regional South Australia.

In 2025, Carclew revitalised its music programming, building on a formidable legacy of supporting young musicians. Through initiatives such as Song Sessions, Holiday Bands, youth stages at festivals, music workshops, industry experiences and the launch of the Stables Studio, we have re-established strong foundations for long-term creative pathways. These programs are designed to nurture confidence, skills and connections, helping young creatives grow into the next generation of artists, collaborators and industry leaders.

Some recent key initiatives connecting young people with creativity include:

  • Stables Studio – our fully equipped recording and production space
  • School holiday programs where young people form bands, write original songs, record demos and perform live
  • Artist and band development programs led by expert SA musicians
  • Music pathways in schools to build future industry leadership
  • Mentoring pathways supporting confidence, identity and artistic growth
  • Industry collaborations to shape the creative landscape of SA
  • All ages events that strengthen our state’s music ecology

Some recent programs and workshops include:

Holiday Bands – a “backstage pass” into the Adelaide music scene and a confidence-building experience for young musicians during school holidays.

Turn It Up – a youth band development workshop led by Will Everett, an active SA musician who brings real industry experience, live performance knowledge and artist-to-artist mentorship.

Song Sessions – involved artists working with producer Mario Spate & songwriter Alex Hosking, to have violinist Julian Ferraretto arrange their live music performance at the Crescendo Festival.

Tiny D-esque – was a recent collaboration with Wizard Tone Studios, inviting four SA artists to perform intimate live sets in front of a studio audience, captured in high-quality audio and video, creating a live recording series.

Band! Zine!! Shoot!!! – a school holiday program offering young people a day of jamming, zine-making, and photography workshops.

The Note – in an exclusive partnership with Carclew, The Note has launched ‘Teen Spirit’: a Youth Edition of Adelaide’s favourite street magazine.
